That looks like it should work John. I can't wait to see the bluebirds! I had a female enjoying a bath today but bluebirds aren't something I see predictably here.

Oh, ya, that looks effective, John! We use something similar for squirrels--only an upended coffee can instead of PVC. We used tanglefoot one year on a post that the phoebes were nesting atop in the hopes of deterring marauding coons, but we had reservations. We worried a hummingbird might brush up against it and get stuck. Luckily, that didn't happen, but we moved to tack strips as a deterrent. Do you think a snake would actually get stuck in tanglefoot? Or do you think it would just avoid it?
