I believe it was the roasted mealworms were the draw.

Very nice shot, l2b! We had one straggler hanging around last week--seems like it's getting very late for them. Maybe they're partaking of our mealworm offerings, too? I know they also like the hornets and they were very active last week, too.

What a sweet picture, l2b! We have phoebes here all summer...they nest in a big concrete bridge at the highway at the end of our country road. They come up to our front porch and catch bugs in the Japanese maple and other places in the nearby yard. My husband loves to see them and always tells me they have been getting our bugs.

I have meal worms but when I put them inthe window feeder No one seams to come get them. N o blue birds at all here. Not sure what changed. cedar wax wings and blue birds are gone. I have the same sort of feeder and baths as the people that were here before. But i have enjoyed my treats of red breasted nut thatcher, and purple finch. Ginny H.

L. T b. I cant do suet on the ground it is deadly to dogs. I use my suet outside the fence but have it in holders. The squirrels could get at it and some buts fall down. The ground birds can enjoy those bits. I have a neighbor Up the road who has a yellow lab. They do not watch him and he squeezes by the fence where it meets the woods and dumps in our yard. I have told them of the danger with the suet. He is a state trooper with an impecable lawn . It is happening less but i want it to end. Ginny h

Ginny h Hi Ginny.......take some pictures of the dog and the dump, show it to your neighbor, 'softly' , ask him if it is possible to restrain the dog? and let him know, -you are willing to work with him to resolve this problem-.

L2b I did that last spring. Then we got the fence and I figured we were done but not. He is just one of those annoying people as is his wife. Three yound kids that play in the street and she is on her cell phone. The dog roams leaves tennis balls on our lawn. The guy across from him said the people before us were also annoyed with him. He has a fenced in yard, the people next to him have a golden and no fence, never have a problem from them. Thanks for the thought wish it worked. I think it is less since the fence but if they let him roam with the kids he prefers our back yard. I yell at him all the way up the street telling him to go home. Ginny H.

That shot of the Mockingbird is so amazing. I did see one a few weeks ago at the feeder. I was mixing worms in as you suggested. I always see them on tele poles but not in my yard. Lack of poles here with underground wire. Saw lots of robins this week on the lawn and white throated were eating all the Mutsu apple cores and skin from the pies i made. Cold and raw today and very little bird action. The feeder was filled and I assumed a hawk must be about. Then i heard the raven and two of them just flew by swiping a peanut. we tried to get photo's. Ginny H.
