The seem to lag behind the males by a few days, too, so they maybe just haven't arrived, yet. I haven't seen any, either.

It's late in the year for a Pine Siskin but he was here today again.

Thanks Lue, so surprised to see him.
The Pine Siskins are not supposed to be here this time of year, go figure.

I'm thinking the siskins might be thinking of nesting in unusual places this year--we still have at least 8 hanging around and they seem to be paired up. Lots of singing and chasing, too. Maybe yours have the same thought about setting up housekeeping... Handsome grosbeak! They should show up here, too, in the next week or so. Our seed bill will go up again when they do, I'm sure! Oh, and we saw our first female towhee today! whoot whoot!

Thanks Hazel. Dare I hope for a nesting; I am somewhat anxious though, we still have 6 B-H Cowbirds hanging around. Congrats. on your female towhee. A male towhee was here today also but it's been a couple of years since I saw a female.

We don't see the fems very often, either, but if you see/hear the males all summer, chances are they're nesting somewhere nearby. The fems are just more shy.

Saw the male again this morning, keeping my fingers crossed.
