I see on my SVT sight that many have redpolls and I only had that one. the towns surrounding me people show photo's of groups of them. I think the starling scared them away. I have every type of seed a bird could want. doing ground feeding by the house were the snow is low due to wind drifting. Under the deck is good. lots of ground. I toss some worms in there. Hoping the starlings won't find them. Today I saw the dark eye hopping in the snow where all the bird perch on the tree. It looked like they were pecking at the bird poop. ?? I have two blue birds that keep fighting. We had more snow today. not as fluffy at the past snow this has much more moisture in it. My poor husband spends 3 hours a day trying to keep up with the roof and deck. Ice jams. We put salt into panty hose after he chisseled a groove on the bottom of the roof. First we used the blue stuff. then we were told it was not good for the roof tiles. so we switched to the water softener salt. Our poor all purpose room new cieling a mess. We have not had the leaking in the sunroom facing the lake like we did a week ago. The only plus to this snow is my dogs will pee on the snow on the deck so letting them in and out is easy, till that door started acting up. we had to replace the dish washer after a year and two weeks. the heater went. Al tried to get at the heater to replace it but you can't. So we went to the local app. store got one. the propane ran out and al had to shovel a path to the other side of the house for them to replace those two. we only use it for cooking. and heating up the kitchen from time to time. Which was what i was doing when it ran out. I was smelling the gas and looked and no flames. Had to open the window and door since the smell was so bad. they came in three hours which was great. Hope you are all healthy and seeing signs of spring. ginny h.
