Whew! Sounds like you have things well in hand! Isn't Amazon wonderful? I'm hoping Ginny has power, too--though I heard that power outages weren't quite as widespread as expected. Always good news!

I really don't know how you folks manage your weather. I lived in NJ the first 27 years of my life and you couldn't drag me back. Since then have been in NY, FL, TN, and now AL. I've visited HA, the SW states & west coast. No place is perfect!! But 3 feet of snow, cold wind, dampness for months on end is not my thing. My hat is off to you!

It sounds really weird, I know, but I'd much rather have subzero temps and 3 feet of snow than heat and humidity. I just can't take the heat...I melt! Winter is my favorite season!

Snow in winter (but no where near what other parts of the country get) and heat/humidity in the summer. I hate when its 90 and humid more than when it snows 2 feet so if I had to pick one I'd take the snow. I like having all 4 seasons. I don't think I'd want to live anywhere that it was the same all year. Fall is my favorite of them all. We may be getting snow on Sunday so I may change my tune on Monday (kidding)

LOL Are you expecting a lot more snow, Kim? I may have to relocate a little further east to get my fill! We only have about 6 inches on the ground--and it's starting to pack and get a little icy from all our unseasonably warm temps lately... I'd like some powder, pls!

Well, I don't like humidity either, which is why the SW appeals to me. When it's cold here (I consider 40's cold) and no dampness I'm OK. Same for 80* without humidity. I really have a very narrow comfort zone!!

I don't mind the cold and snow, just so the power lines don't come down, let it snow. We are expecting 6 inches or more of snow Sunday continuing into Monday.
My favorite seasons are Fall, Spring, Winter and Summer last, I don't care for the 90*F. heat and humidity.

I hear ya about the power lines! Any time of year they're down it's a hassle, but especially in the coldest part of winter!! We have propane heaters to keep our pipes from freezing and a few small generators to run the water pump and keep the lights on... At least in winter we don't have to worry about food spoiling as quickly, though--we just chuck the stuff in the freezers out into the snow! LOL

I have invested in Kerosene burners, (stoves), but I'm afraid to let them burn while asleep.

I'm sort of nervous about fumes, too--so if we ever end up having to use them overnight, I'd probably be up all night monitoring the air! LOL But at least the pipes won't freeze!

I'm nervous about the power lines tomorrow. We're getting snow and ice and they've been warning about the ice all day. However, I do have plenty of bird seed this time so I can skate out and keep them fed.

Ice is scary! Stay safe! Here's hoping your power stays on, too.

Thanks. Everything was fine. We had a lot of ice mixed in and ended up with 10" of snow. I was home all day today and saw more birds than I've ever seen in the yard. It was snowing heavily on and off all day and they were so hungry. I shoveled out to the feeders 3 times and put food all over. The food kept getting covered, etc.

Take Care & keep warm, l2b

Definitely a good thing about the power! But ya, 10" is a lot of snow! Your poor sparrow with it's frosty tail! And the titmouse definitely has that "What is this crap I'm standing on?!" expression on its face! I'll bet they all appreciate your shoveling and restocking efforts, though!
