I thought this brief article was interesting - I didn't know other birds (besides the Cowbird) did this.

Very cool! Sort of a trade-off gamble--the 'victim' might raise your chick, but if she's overwhelmed, you've lost the extra investment and she's lost her whole first brood... Interesting strategy. I wonder if some fems take the brunt of it (maybe those less vigilant at the nest site, or more tolerant of the presence of other fems, for instance) or if all fems are prone to be parasitized that way?
