need help with this sparrow like bird.

I have had the one house sparrow all winter. He is being a bully and chasing the blue birds from the boxes. I see him at the front box which is a winter box. Also at the blue bird house out back. I was wondering what he was working so hard for he is all alone. Is this his mate? ginny h.
