Blueberries + a family of Catbirds = lots of fun to watch. I wish I had my camera out. Its rare for me to see more than 2 catbirds together. The babies look like the parents now so I'm not 100% positive but I think it was the family of 5. They had their catbird treat, grapes and blueberries. They definitely had a big meal for dinner last night, lol. A juvie bluejay tried to join the party but was chased off instantly.

That must have been a blast to watch!! Do you have blueberry bushes or do you put the berries out with the grapes? I've never thought of putting out blueberries--I wonder if the orioles would eat them all before the catbird got to them... We're overrun with orioles, so the catbirds aren't coming around as much this year.

I didn't have the camera outside with me luv2! They were blueberries from the grocery store. I had bought some and tossed a handful out when I was sitting outside. The catbirds come so close that they had no problem running/flying over.
I have a pair of Orioles but they rarely show up. I'll hear them and once in awhile I'll see one or the other fly across the yard. Each may stop by the water once or twice all year but that it. I have a jelly feeder that my sister bought for me. I put jelly, no one eats it, I dump the jelly. Repeat. Repeat. The only bird that I've ever seen go to it was the young downy and I think it was curiosity. Every year I try jelly for the catbirds and they say nope, give us grapes and catbird treat.
I had no takers for the cut up strawberries. Even the peanut eating baby bunny snubbed them.

Haven't seen an Oriole this year. Saw one catbird when I was traveling from WalMart.
Wishing you all the best of luck and hope they keep returning for you.

Those Orioles are precious! They look so cute coming and going and gorging! What a great video.

They've sure been keeping us entertained, l2b! I'd settle for a few catbirds in the mix, though!

Are your catbirds still around, downylover? I saw one yesterday--seemed to be a hatch year bird--but that was the first one I've seen in at least a month-and-a-half.
