hubby just spotted a gray fox out by the back stump, so hazel did her ninja routine across the basement yard, opened the gate in the chainlink fence and leaned out to try to get some pics...just as Foxy was heading uphill and out of sight behind the chainlink fence. For some reason, pishing came to mind--maybe Foxy would be curious--so pishing I did. About 20 seconds later, Foxy comes tearing back to the corner and I start shooting madly in hopes I'd catch a decent image before it caught on and ran away. But Foxy turned out to be one of the youngsters, woefully naive, and curious as heck. Instead of running away from the apparition of mad hazel hanging out the gate with her clicking black box, Foxy hovered in the corner...torn, I think, between wanting to check out the pishing and wanting to run away from mad hazel. heheh It was AWESOME!
Foxy was pretty far away and the light was bad, but I think I might be able to salvage one or two pictures. If I can, I'll post 'em. Not today or tomorrow, though--meeting tonight and a trip into EC tomorrow--but soon!

He's a beauty, Hazel. I love foxes. We live near a State Park bordering the ocean, and there were so many foxes there. A few years ago, a lot of them got mange. Must check to see if their numbers have increased at all.

Wonderful fox, looks very healthy. We rarely see our fox now. I do hear them barking occasionally, so they are still around.

Ack! Mange! Ya, that can be a real problem, BarbK. Thankfully, we've not seen a lot of mange around here. It always gives me a thrill to see the foxes. They're just so dang gorgeous!
