Neat! How close are you to the park? Do you go there often? Had to laugh--it's bigger than our double township and has 20X the road mileage we do!

It takes about 1 1/2 hours to get to the Basin. We don't go near as much as I would like to. We'll go for lunch and a short hike. We went more often 10 years ago.

Oh, VERY nice!!! And I could drive there in a few days--wouldn't need to fly! Too bad you can't get there more often! Would love to spend a migration there.

Actually, my sister drives straight through - just a little over 24 hours, if I remember right! Glad you liked the videos. It is an amazing place. You could do migration there and then go east before going home and check out the birding areas on the coast. Nick was there a few years ago. And, we could 'do' lunch while you're in the Big Bend area! We also have a spare room with private bath...

Loved both videos, Lue, it was just like being there. The bird video was spectacular, especially about the Colima warbler, thank you for sharing.

L2B, glad you enjoyed the videos. It is a pretty special part of the world. Tejas (Texas) Independence day is coming up too (March 2), so a good time to 'show it off'.
Keep me posted HRM!

Looking back over this thread. Reminded me of a funny incident when I first moved to Miami in 1970. We had one of those Spanish dagger plants on our property, and of course being from NJ, I had no clue about it. I was doing some weeding, etc., and bent over only to be stuck in the behind by this lovely plant! The toxin made me hurt like $%*# for days afterward!!
I discovered some daffodils blooming today! Even though we have snow in the forecast tonight and Wednesday and below freezing temps every night until Saturday!

Yep, those daggers can be dangerous Marilyn. And I react to the toxins too but my husband doesn't!

Wow--I didn't even know there were toxins in Spanish daggers... O.O As my sister said the first time she visited us here; "everything hurts here"!

I'm kind of clutzy--probably best if I never try to grow them, then! Especially given that they sneak up on Marilyn! LOL I'd be a goner!!
