Spring will be here soon, I hope. My first RT hummingbird arrived yesterday at 4:30 PM and took a loooonng drink! And wouldn't you know, my missing YB sapsucker showed up last evening as well!! Where the heck has he been all winter? I hope he comes by on Mon/Tuesday!!
Hazel, I only have 1 white-throated sparrow now, and 2 or 3 juncos, 1 or 2 pine warblers. Last saw butterbutt a couple days ago. You should start seeing some soon. I still have too many siskins - about a dozen always here and eating too much!
l2b, it's time for the purple finches to be leaving! I guess they don't understand this crazy weather either!!

How exciting! The RT is back!! It must mean spring has arrived! Perhaps you'll have your last cold snap this weekend and you'll be back out in your yard soon. Your count, by the way, was excellent. Neat variety but sorry the silly sapsucker was missing for so long.

So did you get your snow Thursday night, l2b? We got some icy rain last night, but I'm not complaining--it's been so dry! Amazingly, although I've only seen 10-20 siskins at a crack the past few days, the freezing rain flushed them out of the woods and suddenly today there are more than 70 again! I thought they'd all gone north, but evidently they're just biding their time till Spring arrives for real! A hummingbird, Marilyn!! Oy, be still my heart! LOL I'm really looking forward to them arriving, but it's going to have to warm up soon or I'll have to put out my nectar feeders out on heating pads to keep them liquid! And I did get a song sparrow twice this week, but no warblers, yet. I haven't seen any sapsuckers here at all this spring. I wonder where they're all hanging out?

We have been getting snow off and on; we had a small accumulation last week then it melted, we had flurries yesterday morning, didn't amount to much.
Please send a few Siskins my way, I'm suffering from Siskin malnutrition.

Holy catz--I'd send you all of mine! They're still poopin' up a storm! LOL At least the gardens will be well-nourished from all the guano this year!

Final Count, March 30-31, 2015; Low 54, high 67, rain on & off for total of ~ 2 hours, 0.31 inch. Saw the male cardinal mate-feeding the female. He has been singing his heart out this week! I'm surprised that even today I still have siskins, purple finches, white-throated sparrows, and a pine warbler. They tell us to expect severe storms this evening: 70 mph winds, 1.5 inch hail, and heavy rain with a small threat of a tornado. I hope all these feathered friends find a safe place to huddle up, and the ones on nests make it though!!

Great count, nice variety Marilyn. I hope the storm misses you and you will be safe too. After 71*F. and 60*F. respectively, we are suppose to have snow flurries tomorrow; it is now raining.
The weather here is up & down like a window blind.
Take Care and Keep Warm, l2b

Wow, 31 species for the whole PFW season! Great diversity! 21 on a last count is nothing to sneeze at, either! Crossing my fingers that the storms miss you!

l2b, weather same here, up & down. Crazy!!
Storm did miss us, but TV entertainment last evening consisted of watching where the weather was bad all around us and waiting for watches and warnings of severe storms and/or tornadoes. We did have one wind gust of ~ 58 mph and have a few dead trees and branches down. This morning it's still very windy, about 9 mph being reported. Our flag & shrubs are waving wildly!
Hazel, I'm happy with my season! The waxwings were a plus, and having butterbutt here daily was nice too. Previous seasons she just came by infrequently but she learned about my dried mealworms this year and came several times a day for those. Now if I could just get the bluebirds to realize I have those out! Soon I'll have babies being fed out here and "growing" before my very eyes.
I've been awfully busy doing P/T and working with my dog on her obedience training, MD visits, etc. and have gotten behind on reading posts. Will try to catch up next week!!!
