I took a plain wreath and put spray millet and some fruit on it. Its a hit! The fruit is all gone and I keep putting in new millet. It gets picked clean. The cardinals and white throated sparrows so far have been the biggest fans of it.

Is it hanging in a tree, downylover? That sure is a neat idea!

Is it hanging in a tree, downylover? Yes, its on a hook hanging from a small tree. Its been rainy, snowy, windy so there's nothing on it. Tomorrow is supposed to be better so I'm going to put a bunch of millet back in it.

Do any of you who buy the spray millet know if it has been heat treated to kill weed seeds. A guy on another forum was arguing with me that it is heat treated. Do you ever see any of the millet sprout near where you've fed it? He said most bird seed is heat treated which is a bunch of bad info. Nyjer/thistle is indeed heat treated as it is grown overseas and there is a weed in it that we don't want in the USA but I feed tons (a ton is 2000#) of birdseeds annually and none of it is heat treated. Corn, seed mixes with shelled corn, wheat and milo, and sunflower seeds are just not heat treated.

Thanks so much, downlover...that's what I thought-not heat treated. A lady had asked about getting millet seeds and she could not find them at Burpee (out of stock). She said millet is to be the new seed to plant in 2015. I told her to check the pet section at Wal-Mart or a pet supply store in her area as I know several folks that feed millet sprays to their inside birds and outdoor birds, too...and she could shell out the seeds from the sprays for planting...this guy said it was not a reliable seed as they are heat treated. He is a wet blanket about everything, LOL!

There's always one isn't there? I'm not sure if all spray millet is the same. I bought it from petsmart once and it was thinner and fell apart a lot more than this stuff. Maybe its just that it wasn't as fresh?
