That was great to watch. I miss them, can't wait to have them arrive soon. I will share this with my friend in az. she was dealing with the same thing a few weeks ago and her hands cramped up while trying to fill the feeder. Ginny H.

Pretty sweet! heheh No pun intended... o.o
I think I'd have a nervous breakdown if our hummers were in residence during a cold snap! Guess there are a few advantages to their relatively late (early May) arrival here!

Since I am back in NJ most of the time I wanted to join a birding sight in this area. It is called New Jersey birders. In the one month since i have joined I notice the conversation and discussion often has an edge often sharpe. One new comer asked for an Idea of a house sparrow and got ripped. rude, cold and totally not educational. If soneone had said that twenty years ago to me I be gone. In most of my counts I do not encounter house sparrows. So I might be puzzled. As I publised a house sparrow making a nest in my blue bird house I wanted confirmation before I destroyed it. We took the box down but guess who is back. lol To her defence she said she finds sparrows confusing and was not near her books. then the discussion is not on birds it is on how rude he was.. Never did he oppoligize. Just defended his answer. Sad. Just to say I appreciate the support of this group. Ginny H.

Years back the first forum I went to with a question (bald baby blue jays, I thought they were all dying!) was an awful experience for me. I found most of the people really rude and people with questions were treated like morons. I know house sparrows, grackles, etc. are "bad" birds but I was in tears reading these people's posts of how they killed them. Google became my friend. I found my answers without having to deal with all that. I was so happy when I found nice people at the Feeder Watcher's site.

Yes the sogga goes on, I have withdrawn my photo's and posts from the New Jersey Birders sight. While waiting for photo's to be posted and asked if you are told either way if they will post or not. Was told they have such great shots of Osprey and Eagles this time of year. they also do not want to make it a photo's only sight and just have a bunch of back yard birds. Nor to they want to have a question answer sight. Questions such as where did you see that bird? (my bird, only my bird, you can't go see it ) lol I informed then maybe they should change the name to Expert Birders and Photographer of NJ. bye bye, you can remove me from you sight.
I am the one sitting at my window watching the ospreys, blue heron, snowy egret fly by and a ton of birds. No great loss. Happy Spring everyone. Ginny H.

Sounds like a not very friendly place, Ginny.
