I walked down the easement this morning and saw a doe disappear around a bend in front of me. She hadn't seen me, so I slowed up and tried to walk quietly, thinking I might catch up to her. As I turned the bend, I could see her about 80 feet ahead at the side of the drive. She watched me for a couple of seconds and then turned and trotted further up the easement. And then, in the blink of an eye, she was joined by her little tyke--so little that it had to stop and rest when it had caught up with its mom. Might have been born yesterday, as small as it was! She let it rest just a little bit and then they both ran off into the woods--but not before I snapped a pic: Attachment DeletedI can't remember the last time I saw a fawn that young. So cute!!

Me, too! I also got a sound track of the Hermit thrush that's been singing along that stretch--just posted a link to it under Count Site Discussion. Lots of warblers along that stretch, too--and all within a quarter mile of the door. So thankful for where we live!

I checked again this morning, but she was watching for me, I think. I could here something deer-sized moving away through the brush, but didn't see anything. She's a quick learner!
