We are back in the land of electric lights, heat from an automatic furnace, microwave, internet and all the other benefits of the 21st century. We got 1.2" of welcome rain. North and east of us got ice and broken trees, branches on power lines! A utility truck snagged a low hanging power line - unknowingly - and brought down 30 poles in the rural area. Therefore our long outage!!!!! Parts of town were out for a day or two. I'm happy to have electricity! We do okay because of our solar well and portable propane space heaters and gas fireplace. Last year was a mere 57 hours. I wonder what next year will bring?!?

Oof dah!! Glad it wasn't any longer than that! I remember the 57 hours last year! Can't imagine 103hours!! You do seem to be prepared for the worst, though. Power going out here in winter can be a chilling experience, but we're slowly building our stock of generators and portable space heaters. At least keeping food cold wouldn't be a problem this time of year....

True enough about the food staying cold in the far northland! We're getting a new storm starting now. A stiff north wind and 30+mph hour winds and 30 degrees! Glad these days only happen in little spurts!!

Whoa, that's pretty cold for you, isn't it? We're going to be above 0° here today--a veritable heatwave!
