Yesterday we had awesome weather, breeze and cool. We needed to get out and enjoy the birds and the flowers. We headed over to Bay Head and saw some new areas. We had rented in Bay Head back in 1993 but never noticed this canal and lake by the fire house. They were beautiful. we did a lot of walking over bridges and parks. checked on my osprey when we got back. one of the nests had been abandoned. Second year for that nest. they had moved it last year. This year I discovered a Realtor who had a listing across the street taking photo's with the flying camera. Weather this had anything to do with the abandon nest not sure. But a friend birder photographer also saw the same thing at the eagle nest and they have abandoned that nest. It was a ny photographer and he may have been doing this often before we found out. the Osprey foundation has been checking nests on the Barneget bay. Great to watch them climb ladders and clean nests of plastic and string that babies my get tangled in. As the live cams have shown.

Wow, great photos Ginny. I especially like the Osprey ones. I think that is a juvenile red winged blackbird.

Lovely pics, Ginny! Too bad about the abandoned nests--wouldn't surprise me at all if the drones had something to do with it. I hate those things, though, so I'll freely admit to being biassed against them! o.o So much opportunity to do unethical and mischievous snooping/harassment with drones. Definitely a red-winged blackbird, but hard to say for sure if it's a baby or an adult fem. If the tail is shorter than normal, then it would be a fledgling.

I'm not a fan of drones either but admit to loving some of the footage they're able to get. I just wish people would be responsible in using them.

Yes Downy they do have a good use. Now it has been the firecrackers I worry about. We have a very good osprey program in NJ and very good response time for issues with nests and accidents. Like wind storms and chicks being blown out of the nest. I am so happy to see that at least the two chicks next to me are doing well. I did at one point think I saw three heads but they are so high up it could not be proved. Now i have only been seeing two. Some of the nests have a live cam. Not this one. They are not even tagging these guys. often the fire dept helps them with tangled chicks in balloon strings, as of two weeks ago. They could see it on the camera. Hope you all have a great rest of summer. Ginny H.
