Hello all birders. What a winter, long, so much illness. I hope you are all well and heading into spring where you live. I am enjoying the birds that are arriving each week. the osprey arrived this week. Two in the field nest. The marina nest has had an owl in it threw feb.March. Only saw one osprey who was on a near by light post eating. That nest has never produced young and they are young osprey. I had high hopes for this summer. Now with this owl who knows. I had heard a cat bird a few days before. a bunch of starlings are still here. dark eye juncos are still here. I now notice the count of one or two yellow rumps are now four on the hot suet. We still have a front yard full of snow due to no sun there. Our back yard is grass. I had ordered a new feeder from easy and i was not on the window as long as it took al to put it up and fill it. Cedar with three suction cups. ugg. Will let the maker know. How are the birds in your area? Ginny Hutchison. Attachments:

Oooo! When are you going to Cape May? Sounds like fun! Our weather was odd, too -- very wet until August, then a month-long drought, and now we're back into more moisture than usual and a little warmer than usual. This year we had hummingbirds stick around into October! Oct 4 we saw our last one. Previous later record in the 14 years we've been here was Sept 26. I think the heavy rains in June wiped out some broods and there were attempts at renesting. The late-comers are youngsters from the late broods. There are still multiple reports coming in across WI -- one of them from just 40 miles due east of us, so you can bet I'll have my feeders out a while longer. Thanks to the presence of a nesting Cooper's hawk, our feeder traffic was down all summer. Rather nice to be able to stick to my bird seed budget for a change! LOL
