Two together up on the tree tops. Only got a photo of one of them. then a flash came flying by and landed in the tree by me. much smaller. I appreciate any help, even when he went to the second tree I could not see his tail. Ginny H.

Well, it's for sure an accipiter. Not sure if it's a sharpie or a Cooper's, though I'm leaning towards a Cooper's. Something about that dark cap and the body proportions in that last shot make me think Cooper's hawk. But I wouldn't put any money on it!

Ginny, I have such mixed emotions seeing Hawks. I love to see them because they're so beautiful, but then I fear for the birds.
Hazel, just curious about a hawk we saw flying around for a short time before he went off. His wing span was huge and the wings very heavy with feathers. Any idea what it could be on that very little bit of information?

That would be a tough guess, Barb! Were you able to get a feeling for what the many plumage color was and whether there are any patterns on the underside of the wings or on the belly?

That's a good thought, Ginny! I never even considered vultures, but they do have a 'heavy wing' and a magnificent wing span!
