Looked out at my feeders yesterday and was shocked to see the return of the dreaded grackles. So soon? I always tell myself they're birds, too, but it's hard to keep that thought when they chase off any bird that comes near the feeders. Oh, well...
Today haven't seen them. Maybe it was an illusion.

Just think of the grackles and starlings as hawk bait.
Here in New Brunswick the grackles and red-winged blackbirds are the first of the spring birds and usually arrive the last week of feederWatch. A mixed blessing for sure !

Oh I hope they at least hold off until March. I get swarmed when they first start returning.

It's so hard to feed the birds in the spring with all the Grackles. Last spring, though, wasn't that bad. I like to feed the birds all year round--miss them when I don't see them at the feeders every day.
