Wear a helmet Barbk, they can be very protective of their nest.

Good advice l2b!!! Around here the Curve-billed Thrashers also have the same idea about protecting their nest!

I thought mine would go the minute the snow started melting but he's still here. When I go to fill the feeders he comes flying in, goes right over my head and lands in a small tree and watches. The minute my feet are back on the patio he's on the feeder. We still have some snow cover so I'm hoping he's around a few more days.

Maybe yours will stick around to raise a family, too, downylover. whoot whoot!I hope so. A couple years back an adult brought a young one around for the peanut butter mix I give them in the summer. It only happened one summer but he's here all the time now so never know. Today was really nice out and I sat outside for a bit after filling the feeder. I forgot the crumbled suet. He came down and was eating peanuts (not shell) then started making clicking sounds and hopping on and off the platform. I realized I forgot his suet so I went and put some in. He was back in 1 minute. Spring is springing! I saw a chipmunk (earliest I ever recall) and 2 bunnies today.

downylover, my Mockingbird doesn't eat the tangerines I put out for him. (Have to get oranges tomorrow.) He only eats the jelly. I put out pears and forgot to check to see if he ate that. Do you have fruit out for yours?

Do you have fruit out for yours? I put out grapes but he doesn't seem too interested. He's been eating the suet and the peanuts (no shell). I've put out apple and orange and don't think he's touched that either.

I haven't seen him eat the suet, either. He doesn't eat the grapes I put out, too. I guess there's a lot of natural food for him, now.

My Mockingbird is still here. The chopped up pears I put out are all gone, so I guess he likes them. Unless another bird was at the pears. He does love the jelly. This guy is not aggressive at all. If another bird lands on the feeder, he flies off. Today a House Sparrow scared him off. I was so surprised. I hope he toughens up.
